My name is Norkiseyia. I was born and raised in Narok County, Kenya, to a nomadic family. Nomadic pastoral communities are always on the move in search of water and pasture for both human and livestock consumption. During my childhood, I spent most of my time herding my family's livestock, which deprived me of a formal education and diversified employable skills. As I approached my teenage years, I went through the initiation ceremony to young adulthood and was soon married off to a suitor chosen by my family. Since then, my life has been dedicated to raising my children and taking care of my husband. However, the high cost of living and climate change have made farming an unreliable source of income, making it increasingly difficult for my family and me to make ends meet. As a result, I would like to appeal to well-wishers for support in the form of capacity building on climate-smart agriculture or the establishment of a small, sustainable livelihood income-generating activity like chicken rearing. This support will enable my family and me to access improved food security, nutrition, and much-needed healthcare, which will improve the quality of our lives.
