Hello, my name is Ngupet. I am a 68-year-old man born and raised in the northern region of Kenya, where my family lived as nomadic pastoralists.
We migrated often in search of water and pasture for our livestock, which was our primary source of livelihood.
Unfortunately, because of this lifestyle, I did not have the opportunity to get a formal education or learn any diversified employable skills. Instead, I spent my childhood herding our family's livestock and eventually became responsible for protecting the community and our animals as an adult. I later got married and spent most of my time raising my family.
Recently, our community has been struggling due to climate change-induced droughts. We experienced a severe drought that wiped out all of our livestock, making it very difficult to make ends meet. I am now relying on scarce manual jobs in the community to provide for my family.
That's why I am reaching out for help. I am kindly asking for support from well-wishers to help me rebuild my life. Specifically, I am hoping for assistance with capacity building on climate-smart agriculture, livestock restocking, and insurance premiums for the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). With this support, my family and I would be able to access improved food security and nutrition, much-needed healthcare, and a better quality of life. Thank you for considering my request.
