My name is Leshinka, a 77-year-old man who was born and raised in northern Kenya. My family used to be nomadic, constantly moving in search of water and pasture for our animals. As a child, I spent most of my time herding and didn't have the opportunity to obtain formal education. Later on, I was initiated into young adulthood, where I was expected to protect the community and herd cattle.
I later got married and started a family. Our community relies entirely on livestock for a living, but due to climate change, things have taken a turn for the worse. The recent prolonged drought wiped out all of my livestock, and now I have to rely on scarce manual jobs to earn a small income to support myself and my family.
I humbly appeal to you for support so that I can access healthcare, restock my livestock, and build a brighter future for my family.
